Moisture-associated Skin Damage (MASD), as the name suggests, occurs when exposure to a moisture source results in a breakdown of skin integrity. MASD is an umbrella term for a number of conditions including incontinence-associated dermatitis, peri-stomal skin damage, peri-wound skin damage and intertrigo. These conditions can impact greatly on patients so protecting the skin from damage and promoting wound healing are integral parts of skin and wound care.
